As part of WhaleFest 2015, a team from the World Cetacean Alliance - the world’s partnership of organisations working to protect these animals - created a campaign focussed around an artwork auction.
To raise funds and commemorate the approximately 60 Orcas being held in captivity around the globe, they approached some of the finest artists working in the Brighton area asking each to paint, or sculpt, on a whale tail - fabricated by a local sheet metal company.
With each tail unique to a named animal, these diverse, beautiful and poignant sculptures raised around £25,000 for anti-captivity campaigning.
